In 2016, Feed the Mass started as a community cooking school in Portland and has evolved into a key resource for food access, education, and workforce development, serving thousands.

When the COVID-19 pandemic affected food access in Portland, Feed the Mass transitioned from cooking classes to emergency meal production, expanding their mission to meet the increased need.
2021
Feed the Mass continued to deliver prepared meals to families, seniors, and neighbors facing food insecurity, evolving from an emergency response to a dependable community support source.
2022
Feed the Mass enhanced cooking, packaging, storage, and distribution systems while boosting meal production, transitioning from a crisis response to a sustainable meal program.
2023
Partnerships with schools, nonprofits, shelters, and community organizations expanded the reach of Feed the Mass throughout Portland. Together, these collaborations helped provide meals to more neighbors than ever before.
2024
The FED Program expanded, providing thousands of culturally connected meals weekly while Feed the Mass enhanced its commitment to food access, dignity, and community care.
2025
Feed the Mass invested in stronger systems, workforce pathways, youth programming, and community partnerships. The organization focused on building the foundation for its next decade of service.
2026
Feed the Mass launched the Nourish Building, a 40,000-square-foot hub promoting food access, cooking education, and workforce development. This initiative has evolved from a kitchen into a community movement focused on food, dignity, education, and belonging.
